About Dr. F. James. Clark and Shalom Church

Shalom Church City of Peace was founded on June 6, 1993, when Reverend Dr. Freddy J. Clark and his wife, Cheryl, gathered 15 people in their home with a vision to establish a church rooted in preaching, teaching, and praying. One week later, the church held its first worship service at the Holiday Inn on Woodson Road, beginning a journey that would impact thousands throughout the St. Louis region.

A native of St. Louis, Dr. Clark accepted his call to preach at a young age and has devoted his life to ministry, community service, and leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy from Bishop College and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary. In 2017, Eden Seminary awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity.

As the congregation grew, Shalom relocated to Ascension Catholic School before purchasing its first permanent home in Berkeley, Missouri. On January 1, 1995, the church held its first worship service at what became known as "The Mother Church." Continued growth led to the purchase of 115 acres in Florissant, groundbreaking in 2003, and the opening of the Lindbergh Campus on June 11, 2006.

Under Dr. Clark's leadership, Shalom has expanded far beyond the walls of the church. Through community outreach, scholarships, food distributions, health initiatives, financial literacy programs, prison ministry, and educational partnerships, the church has become a catalyst for transformation throughout the region. Dr. Clark also helped launch A Call to Oneness, a movement promoting unity and reconciliation throughout the St. Louis community.

Today, more than three decades after its founding, Shalom Church City of Peace continues to build upon a legacy of faith, service, and community impact. Guided by the vision of Reverend Dr. Freddy J. Clark, the church remains committed to sharing the Gospel, strengthening families, and serving future generations.
